MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS (MHWC)

Good mental health is vital for students' overall development, influencing academic performance and physical well-being. Recognizing the challenges inherent in university life—such as dietary concerns, adjustment difficulties, and social isolation—Shyam Lal College has constituted a dedicated committee under the guidance of the Office of the Dean Students' Welfare (DSW), University of Delhi, to proactively support student wellness.

The Shyam Lal College Mental Health and Wellness Committee is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment through several key initiatives:

  • Mental Health Support and Counselling Services: We provide access to confidential counselling through the expert psychologists and therapists. Students facing academic, personal, or emotional challenges can reach out to us or use national resources like the 24/7 Tele MANAS helplines (14416 or 1800-891-4416).
  • Awareness and Educational Programs: In coordination with the DSW, our committee organizes regular wellness workshops, seminars, and campaigns within the college. These events, part of the broader awareness program, focus on stress management, emotional well-being, and related topics to promote mental health awareness across the campus community.
  • Physical Wellness and Recreation: Encouraging a holistic approach to health, we promote participation in various fitness and recreational activities. These include regular yoga sessions and access to college gym facilities and sports programs, which serve as crucial preventive wellness measures.

We encourage all students to utilize these resources and prioritize their mental and physical well-being to ensure a fulfilling academic journey at Shyam Lal College.

Committtee Members:

  • Dr. Prem Lata Meena, Nodal Officer
