Thematic Background

Quantum science and technology is emerging as one of the most transformative areas of modern science with applications in computing, communication, sensing, metrology, materials science, healthcare, cybersecurity, and advanced instrumentation. With the rapid global progress in quantum technologies and the launch of the National Quantum Mission by the Government of India, there is a growing need to create awareness and develop skilled human resources in this interdisciplinary field. Understanding the fundamentals of quantum science and its technological applications can help students explore new research opportunities and prepare for future scientific and technological challenges. Recognizing the importance of this rapidly evolving domain, the Research & Development Centre and IQAC of Shyam Lal College (University of Delhi) are organizing a 2-Week National Summer School on Quantum Science and Technology: Hands-on Exploration and Emerging Frontiers, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi & Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) Delhi. The summer school aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and emerging research by providing students with foundational knowledge, experimental exposure, and interaction with experts working in the field of quantum science and technology.
