THEMATIC BACKGROUND

The world around us is changing faster than ever before. Economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, climate stress, technological disruption, and crises of trust in institutions have become part of everyday life. Yet, amid this turbulence, India finds itself in a relatively balanced position—what economists often call a “Goldilocks economy”: stable but not stagnant, ambitious but not reckless. This balance, however, is fragile. Sustaining it requires resilience, innovation, ethical leadership, and social trust.

At the heart of this transformation is India’s youth. With more than two-thirds of the population under 35, young Indians are not waiting for the future—they are already building it. They are starting enterprises, questioning old systems, experimenting with technology, shaping narratives, and demanding accountability. But youthful energy alone is not enough. It must be supported by education that empowers, institutions that respond, policies that include, and ecosystems that reward integrity and innovation. This Conference is built on a simple yet powerful belief: India’s development journey must be human-centred. Growth must create dignity, opportunity must reach the margins, and prosperity must be sustainable—not only economically, but socially and environmentally.
